AE051A
AE051A
Hi, have just had a hit in UK from AE051A with callsign RCH894 the database displays this code as C5 68-0213/(86-0017) could someone please explain the significance of the bracketed serial? as I thought AE051A was C-5C 68-0213 which a rarity this side of the pond, Sorry if this is an obvious question, Steve
Re: AE051A
Hi Steve
The second serial in brackets (86-0017) means that this code is also being used (erroneously) by a second machine. I agree that hex code AE051A is assigned to 68-0213 but on the 17th August this hex code was reported in the USA using Mode S flight ID "RCH6017" which is the callsign we'd expect 86-0017 to use.
By way of confirmation AE051A was reported in Germany yesterday using Mode S flight ID "RCH894" and corresponding to that 86-0017 is known to have visited Ramstein using radio callsign "Reach 894".
On this occasion AE051A looks as though it was being used by 86-0017 rather than the rarer 68-0213.
Best wishes
Trubb
