VR-48 is History and C-20 Reassigned

Post by Navairboss »

Morning all,

AE0698 GLF4 United States 165153 USNR | VR-48 [KADW] BSI_26122005

As I indicated in a previous dated May 30, the Capital Skyliners of Fleet Logistics Support Squadron (VR) VR-48 was disestablish on 7 September 2012. Consequently their C-20G aircraft have been reassigned.

C-20G 165151 1199
C-20G 165093 1187

165093 has been seen on the west coast recently using the CNV 2### (Convoy 2###) callsign which is a CONUS C-20 callsign. All the aircraft above have been seen with VVRG### in the Mode-S c/s block intercept. That would indicate they are now with VR-51 based at MCAS Kaneohe Bay, HI [PHNG]

C-20G 165153 1200

Just had this aircraft overhead using the Ghost 53 callsign. This would indicate they are attached the USMC Headquarters/4 MAW based at Joint Base Andrews Naval Air Facility, MD [KADW]. The Marine Corps calls this aircraft "The Ghost" and the Ghost 53 radio callsign is that Ghost nickname and 53 the last two digits in the serial.
