AE0595 not 58-0130?

Post by Navairboss »

DB has AE0595 listed as 58-0130. Scramble says this KC-135 airframe is in AMARG. I received it recently using the Steel ## Mode-S c/s. That would indicate 128ARW/126ARS, just not sure on the serial.

Hi Chief Larry

I believe the 128th ARW use fixed callsign "Upset **", and that "Steel **" is a Pennsylvania ANG/171st ARW callsign.

Like you I am unsure which of the unit's KC-135Rs is using AE0595, but the smart money would probably fall on 59-1460 which is a PA ANG machine, and which is assigned adjacent hex code AE0596... so it may have been a one bit transponder coding error, i.e. 53402626 instead of 53402625.

It's worth considering that the problem may be restricted to one transponder as well, so there's a chance that even if it is this machine, it could still also show up from time to time using its legitimate hex code AE0596.

No doubt things will become clearer as time goes on.

Best wishes
