Benefits of running modesfiltered on a RPi: low power consumption
Since modesfiltered is Java based, it can run on different hardware. In the photo below the software runs on a Raspberry Pi 3 Model B with a RTL-SDR dongle. On the right hand side you see a power-measuring device Voltcraft Energy-Check 3000. The display shows 3.4 W. Even though this measurement is n...

Benefits of using modesfiltered: time info
In this post I am presenting an advantage of using the logger modesfiltered over the standard windows-client modeslogger. Next picture is a screenshot of the map feature. I have selected a flight of the RAF operated Sentry AEW1 ZH101 on december 28th in 2018 around 11 oclock. If you click the left m...

Re: Joining live-military-mode-s?
The "Location online" on website should not be considered as a measure for "fall out". The table is cleared every minute. The "active" time strongly depends on location. A normal station has around 20 reports per day between 7 and 16 o'clock. Unfortunately this behaviou...

Re: Joining live-military-mode-s?
What did you mean with EHVK_1304? The first entry is just a log of a report to database. The second part is a format error that has been reported because position information consisting of latitude and longitude was missing in the message. This could be caused by the receiver program. You can ignore...

Re: Error: connection to database server
There has been a problem with the server. My station lost contact and filled the logfile whith eror messages until the disk was full. Please check with df -h whether this is the case for your station. If so, just delete the logfile and restart modesfiltered. Another idea: The log entry "Lat&quo...

Re: Joining live-military-mode-s?
I did check locationsonline just a minute ago. There was an entry: "29 Dongen, NL +2:00". Should be all correct.
I would still like to encourage you to use the RPi-version although it is a bit more complicated.

Re: RPI Problems....perhaps Java failure?
Hello Magic57,
sounds like that you have not Java 8 / 52 installed as you already supposed.
Please check the version of your installed java and the operating system.

Re: unable to install on Rpi
Thanks for beeing patient with the tool. I will take up your case/comments and try to improve the Setup guide.
Some users reported problems with the newer versions so please keep checking the reports of your station on the website and locally under /var/log/modes.log.
Always good reception!
