Re: Pi problems
Hi Colin, thanks for reporting the solution! There are a couple of new locations/participants with a wrong time setting. Please check again the local time of your RPi by typing: date. If it is set wrong, correct by: sudo raspi-config. You can find more help here: https://www.raspberrypi.org/document...

Re: Pi problems
Hi andrewn, You are running version 4. Though there was no improvement regarding the problem reported by you, I recommend to update to actual version 11. sudo service modes.sh stop cd /home/pi/modesfiltered curl https://www.live-military-mode-s.eu/Rpi/modesfiltered.zip > modesfiltered.zip unzip mode...

Re: Pi problems
Hello MW0JNI,
check the start script: Is PROG_PATH properly defined? Is "cd $PROG_PATH" done before executing the jarfile?
Go to the directory where the jarfile is and try excuting there: java -jar modesfiltered.jar
Show your start script: head /etc/init.d/modes.sh -n 30

Re: Pi problems
Hello Nick, did you gather the data when the problem just occurred? Q1: Unfortunately has not been answered because of an exception. Could you please restart the program "sudo service modes.sh restart" and test again "head /var/log/modes.log" ? Q2: There is data from port1, so no...

Re: Pi problems
Hello andrewn, Thank you for reporting the error! It's interesting because until know I did not see a modesfiltered.jar stopping without external interaction. Re: Join the site with Raspberry Pi
No I am not the author. In this case I recommend you to uninstall
and install modesfiltered.
Code: Select all
sudo rm /etc/init.d/modes.sh
sudo update-rc.d modes.sh remove

Re: Help needed to test new reporting tool
What you see on the dump1090 local map is information based on several messages collected over time. Modesfiltered works in a different way. It was a design decision to report flights as early and as consistent as possible. Even though a message doesn’t contain altitude the flight will be reported...

Re: Help needed to test new reporting tool
Hi Roy, Thanks for reporting! I see 3 cases: “---“, a white block or an altitude. The “---“ means that modesfiltered did not send altitude information to the database. Within 10 to 60 seconds after the first contact (based on hexid) the station did not receive an altitude but reports the fli...

Re: Join the site with Raspberry Pi
Hello swiss_radar, the advertised program is the modesfiltered which previously has been handled in the topic "Help needed to test new reporting tool". There was a minor change in the program (release 5), but there is no need to update an already running station with release 3 or 4. You ca...
